Covid-19 Measures

Precautions to ensure a safe glamping experience

AfriCamps Boutique Glamping takes the safety and wellbeing of every guest very seriously. With COVID-19 (Coronavirus) recently declared a pandemic, we are aware of the uncertainties surrounding your upcoming trip. We encourage local guests to take their self-drive holidays as planned, and of course, we have put a few extra precautions in place to make sure each guest arrives at a clean and hygienic tent.

Quality time with family in South Africa’s most beautiful and isolated locations has always been close to our hearts. It is in nature where one can recharge, restore and rejuvenate while doing the things you love with the people you love most. Even amid all the uncertainty of COVID-19, this basic value has not changed for us. We have also updated our booking alteration policy to give guests more flexibility and peace of mind.

The following steps are in place to make sure you have a clean and safe stay

Checking in:

We encourage guests to self-check-in. You will receive your tent number via Whatsapp or SMS before check-in and you will be able to head straight to your tent without any human contact. Think of us as being your ‘ghost-host’. We’re there if you need us, but more than happy to keep our distance.

Staff education:

All of our staff have been educated on health safety standards for themselves and for our guests. They are all on board to take the necessary steps in staying sanitised.

Staff monitoring:

AfriCamps staff is monitored daily to ensure nobody is working with a temperature or underlying illness.

Clean, uncrowded spaces:

All high touchpoints in our reception areas/restaurants/shops will be sanitised regularly. These areas will have disinfectant for guests and staff to use regularly. We will only allow limited guests in a shop or communal area at a time. Surfaces will be cleaned after each guest’s visit to the reception/shop.

Laundry services:

Towels and bedding are washed at high temperature an hung on the line to dry in the sun or dried using a tumble dryer ensuring there is a high heat or UV factor.

  • All surfaces and ‘high-touch’ points are sanitised after each guest visit.
  • All dishes, cutlery, and glasses are re-washed after each guest visit.
  • All housekeeping/cleaning staff is supplied with hand sanitizer/cleaner, to be used on a regular basis.
  • We will use a high concentrate bleach solution for all the cleaning.

Updated booking alteration policy

We updated our booking alteration policy to give guests more flexibility and peace of mind regarding their future travel plans in the event that they can not travel to our camps, due to COVID-19 as planned.

Our booking alteration policy has been revised as follows:

Booking alteration policy as of 15 June 2020:

In the event you can not travel to our camps due to COVID-19 related issues you can change your booking to a date within 18 months of your original check-in date, subject to availability and free of charge. Any bookings moved based on these revised alteration terms cannot be transferred to other guests. Please note, only one amendment to travel dates may be made and should the season change to a higher season rate, the new rate will be applied and charged accordingly. Please view our full terms and conditions for more information.

Our cancellation policy will remain as follows:

In the event of a cancellation more than 30 days before arrival, your deposit of 50% will be non-refundable. In the event of cancellation within a month before arrival, the entire booking amount is payable to AfriCamps. In the case of premature termination of the stay, the entire booking amount is payable to AfriCamps. For the above reasons we always advise to postpone instead of cancel your booking.
